An oasis of calm in the centre of Bangkok
Pros: The location is superb. Dining on the terrace by the river was one of the many highlights. All the staff were friendly, efficient and nothing was too much for them. We had to leave very early for our flight so they provided us with a beautifully prepared picnic breakfast. Above and beyond !

A superb hotel and the perfect place from which to enjoy Bangkok.
Pros: It is a beautiful property and a haven of tranquility in the middle of this bustling city . It is perfectly positioned for visiting all Bangkok’s main attractions . Breakfast on the terrace overlooking the temple Wat Arun is an experience we will never forget. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful and our room was full of character , spacious and very comfortable . The swimming pool set in the beautiful gardens was a very welcome facility .
Cons: We liked everything .

Worth it for the pool alone!
Pros: It’s a beautiful place, lovely grounds and fantastic swimming pool. Breakfast on the terrace was lovely and the staff were very friendly and helpful.
Cons: The Thai suite we stayed in was very dark inside, the bathroom was in need of updating as the sink and bath were cracked which made it feel grubby, the bath is the biggest bath I’ve ever seen! We both thought it was lovely but a bit overpriced and possibly not five stars.

Feeling a king in Bangkok @ Chakrabongse villas
Pros: This was one of my best hotel experiences ever! The hotel is an oasis amidst the very vibrant city of Bangkok. The hotel staff is really exceptional. Be it the receptionist, the hotel manager or the chef (who worked for 15 years Lyon, the food capital of France). The breakfast/restaurant area has direct river acces and staggering view on the Wat Arun temple. The garden is magnificent and there is a decent size pool with facilities (bathroom/drinks by bell). The rooms are very cosy and typical. The manager was especially helpful, as I had a problem with the rental car after my stay, I called him and he translated everything into Thai, so that my new hosts could send someone to install a new battery in notime.
Cons: Everything was perfect. You should be aware though that this part of Bangkok is dead in the evening. It is very secure, because all main temples are located there. Chinatown is on close walking distance.

Would return in a heartbeat
Pros: Everything! The best city hotel I’ve ever stayed in, a true oasis of calm. We could have watched the boats go past all day and all evening, only the beautiful wats and palace are too close to ignore. We loved our breakfasts and the dinner outside on the verandah, and the pool was a joy to swim in. All the staff were so friendly and helpful. our Moroccan corner room was also lovely
Cons: Nothing at all

Reccomend - like staying with generous friends who just happen to live by the river in Bangkok
Pros: We stayed at Chakrabongse Villas for 9 nights in total. A small hotel with heart & soul, a local icon with royal family history. Situated on the Chao Phraya river across from Wat Arun, with tropical garden landscaping to provide anchoring calm. Well managed and quietly buzzing with guests yet we had the swimming pool to ourselves most afternoons to cool down in and recieved a free room upgrade to the Garden room. An atmosphere of effortless charm with great aircon and stunning river views. Excellent staff, kind, helpful and well organised. Nothing was too much trouble. Thank you to hotel manager Ohm for a memorable stay.
Cons: The beds were ok but could be better, more comfortable.
